Overview:

The STAND Virtual Advocacy Conference is a youth-centered event designed to equip students with the knowledge, tools, and connections needed to create meaningful change in their communities. Advocacy can often feel distant or inaccessible to young people, but this conference focuses on making real pathways visible — from policy engagement to community organizing and ethical leadership.

Throughout the event, participants will hear from speakers and facilitators working across fields including animal welfare, environmental policy, public policy careers, and youth-led advocacy initiatives. The goal is not only to introduce these topics, but to help students understand how they can actively contribute to solutions through research, civic engagement, and organized action.

The conference will feature six virtual workshops alongside networking opportunities that allow students to connect with peers, advocates, and professionals who are working toward tangible social and environmental progress. By bringing together diverse perspectives and areas of expertise, STAND hopes to create a collaborative environment where students can explore interests, ask questions, and develop the confidence to participate in advocacy themselves.

Ultimately, this conference is about empowering the next generation of advocates. Whether participants are interested in policy careers, nonprofit leadership, or community-based activism, the goal is to provide practical insight and inspiration for turning awareness into action.

Impact

The STAND Virtual Advocacy Conference is designed to create impact beyond a single event. By connecting students with experts, advocates, and peers who share a commitment to ethical and effective advocacy, the conference helps build a network of young leaders prepared to engage with real-world issues.

Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of how advocacy functions across different sectors, from nonprofit work to policy careers and grassroots movements. They will also gain exposure to tangible opportunities for involvement, including volunteer work, research initiatives, community programs, and policy engagement.

Equally important is the sense of community that the conference fosters. Advocacy can be challenging when pursued alone, but when students connect with others who share similar goals, it becomes a collaborative effort. Through dialogue, shared learning, and networking, the conference aims to strengthen a growing community of youth advocates who are committed to thoughtful action and long-term change.
